Delicious Homemade Soft Pretzels


2 packages dry active yeast
2 cups warm water
2 tsp sea salt
2 tbsp coconut palm sugar
2 tsps avocado oil
5 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour

Boiling Water
2 tbsp baking soda
4 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup almond milk or any plant-based milk


In a large mixing bowl, pour in warm water and add the yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes
Add salt, oil, sugar, and stir
Add flour and mix together until it becomes a dough ball
Sprinkle flour on surface and kneed the dough
Clean mixing bowl and coat with oil
Add the dough and cover with towel or cling wrap and let rise approximately 1 hour or until dough doubles in size
Twist and form into shape of pretzel or any other desired shapes and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet
Preheat oven to 450º F
Bring large pot of water to boil
Add 4 tsp sea salt and 2 tbsp baking soda
Place each pretzel in boiling water for 30 seconds
Remove and place on parchment lined baking sheet
Brush pretzels with plant based milk and sprinkle coarse salt on them
Place in oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
